They are rude, rude just answering the phone. Don't want to give out any information. Didn't even want to tell me there approved repairer. Waste of money. I've complained to the car dealer as I have only had my vehicle about 10 weeks, so either he pays up or they do. Do not just except no from these people.

Hi Sooty1981

I would be interested in making a formal misinsterial complaint. We purchased their top cover, our Honda Odyssey automatic transmission was broken. The mechanic who has been sevicing our car advised that we would need a new automatic transmission and the cost would be around $5,000. We wpoke to our mechanic and told him we had a policy with AWN. Paperwork was submitted outling the problems of the transmission which under our understanding and the mechanic met the criteria for AWN to pay for the repair. After several phone calls we were advised that they would not cover the repair as it was Wear and Tear. What transmission wouldn't have wear and tear?
We have now had the car repaired however we are very dissatisfied with AWN. The warranty is not worth the paper it is written on.

I look forward to hearing from you.

HMMMMMM reading all these posts is making seethe with anger.

Just who does this company (NWC) think it is? We have all bought, transferred or taken over a policy with this company under good faith, handing over our money expecting that our purchase of "security" will be honoured if needed.

I purchased a 3 yr warranty on a merc i bought from a used car dealer in Southport Qld....(hmmmm there is another post for that one BUT). Traded the sad but gorgeous merc in - after a very short romance of 4 months. The car had spent over two months in my auto electricians workshop, it broke down within a week of me owning it and would not start. Loads of problems not all related to the electrics- but mechanical too. Add a week or two for various other repairs. Issues NOT disclosed by the dealer.

Hmmmmm! So, today I called the warranty company(NWC) to say I no longer own the car and I wanted a rebate from them as I have only had the car 4 months..and..have only travelled 900kms in it. 150kms of which is distance from dealer to home.

The "lady's" first response funnily enough was that because the car had not had its 3 months service, like most of you the policy was VOID....... UM WHAT!!!!! I told her my policy has 3 months OR 5000kms on it for service..this she didnt want to know.

She didnt want to acknowledge that the car COULD NOT be started for 2 months it had no computer, alternator or regulator, connected or operational-so how could it be serviced? She denied any evidence of correspondence between the company, myself or with my auto electrician, who contacted them prior to ANY work being done ...THIS made me seethe.

I am a single mum, first time I have ever bought a car, have limited income and feel as though the company is going to shaft me and my auto electrician - who has been a complete gentleman - on the repairs I have had to do!!!! The list is long and varied.

I feel the dodgy dealers that sell us dodgy cars get a commission on sales from this company!!!!
What a way to make easy money!

Am waiting to hear from "lady" tomorrow...it was "late"- 4pm when she spoke to me and told me they would be closing soon so could no longer contact me that day!

I say beware. I say DONT get into business with these people. I say name and shame.
I say dont let them do this to you and your hard earned cash...I will be quoting this forum when speaking to her next.

Reference lynbt blog of 25 Aug 2009 re the AWN warranty and how they refused the claim because he missed the service by 2 days. I have just taken over an AWN warranty on the car I bought and it says under Terms and Conditions that (quote)"an allowance of no more than two thousand kms or 30 days beyond the state interval will be accepted." So if you have the same warranty conditions, then AWN cannot refuse on the basisi of being only two days late!

I had the same problem with them, but in a way it was my fault, but then again they were unreasonable.
I missed a service by 2 days and they told me because of that the contract was void ,every other service was on time or even early ,but for some reason i dont remember i was 2 days late on one, As i said my fault but they were unreasonable .
NEVER AGAIN eusa_naughty.gif not worth the paper thier written on.

AWN is a perfect example of the fact that there is NO consumer protection in Australia. AWN is nothing more than a scam. They do NOT pay warranty claims. They are in business to collect money. When I went to a dealer to purchase my last car (it was a new car, since used car warranties are not worth the paper they are printed on), I asked if they used AWN for their used cars and they said they dropped them 2 years ago. I wouldn't buy a car from a dealer that uses AWN. It tells me the dealer is just as dodgy as AWN. By the wording in their terms they do not have to pay anything and they don't. Don't ever waste your time trying to claim from them. They will string you along with excuse after excuse and every time you address one they come up with another. They do not return calls. I believe ACCC is on their payroll because the ACCC won't touch them.

I looked at their website and read some of their online documents, however they didnt provide all their warranty information, contracts or clauses.
But from what I read I would'nt purchase this warranty product as the contract gives them so many avenues to refuse paying for any claims: ie/

* AWN has absolute discretion as to whether it will or will not pay a claim that falls within the warranty attchment. (They can refuse ANY claim if they so desire)

* There is a Warranty Claim Limit which you have to pay for all repairs that exceed that amount, these amounts vary depending on what warranty product you purchase - however the amounts you will be reimbursed are fairly low.
* When transferring the warranty to a new owner AWN require, a current safety inspection report AND a mechanical inspection acceptable to us (what is acceptable to them??? they dont say) + $75 and this all has to be done within 7 days. So as soon as you buy the car you need to outlay all this $$ to have the vehicle inspected ASAP & hoping they will accept the mechanical inspection and SI report.
* The vehicle has to be serviced every 6 months or 10,000 k's by an 'A grade mechanic' so if you drop your car off for servicing and the apprentice touches it or anyone less than an 'A grade mechanic' your warranty could be void.

Far far too many avenues for this company to legally refuse ANY claim you submit to them - your risk is extreme taking a warranty product with this mob..
These clauses are in their contract though, you have to read it before signing it and throwing your $$ away..

I paid for an AWN warranty on a Volvo S60. First response on calling the company was that the warranty was void because, despite the car being serviced at the correct intervals (incidentally, intervals more frequent than that recommended by the manufacturer), the service dockets had not been sent to the company. Whilst I understand that insurers need to have resonable conditions, this is not a reasonable condition. I concur with other gripers that the practices of this company appear to be structured to ensure that claims are not paid.

Disgraceful.

Am sick of contrived contracts that limit the applicability of a service that has been paid for. This group is providing a warranty on behalf of the caryard for that vehicle. If you can prove it's the same vehicle and has not been abused, it should continue to the end of the original term.

Yep, me too. Young son paid over $1700 for their product. A few months later the car was written off in an accident. So was the money paid to AWN

My dad bought a ute with an AWN warranty. What a waste of money that was. When I rang up, they were so quick to say that the warranty wasn't valid because it hadn't been serviced. I didn't even get a chance to explain that it had been serviced. Just toss out the warranty - thats all its worth. Not a very ethical company!!

I bought a used hatchback Holden Barina from a company of clowns in Wangara, Perth. An AWN warranty was included on the car, which subsequently had a number of issues. I rang AWN on two occasions seeking to claim what I thought I was entitled to, and it was very clear to me that they had no intention of being forthcoming, whatever the circumstance. In my mind, I put them in the same basket as the shonky car salesmen.

I bought a vehicle covered by a 3 year extended warranty provided by the AWN. The previous owner did not mentioned that the warranty needed to be transferred within 7 days. When I found there was two years to run on the warranty I applied to transfer it. Despite the service history being up to date AWN used the 7 day loophole clause to wipe the warranty.

I believe they obtained $1400 (price stated on documentation) from the previous owner in good faith and a reasonable person would expect them to warrant the vehicle for the stated period or refund pro-rata.
