Latest stimulus payments

Although pensioners got a payment last year many will miss out on the latest round of stimulus payments to low income recipients. Basically if you do not earn at least $1 above the threshold you cannot claim the payment. If say one is on a pension and does not get anywhere near the income threshold and does not therefore lodge a tax return there will be no payment. A financial advisor friend told me that even if you work in a very low paid or say part time job that does not exceed the threshold you will not get the payment.

If you earn $80000 a year you will get the payment . If you earn $100000 a year you will get a lesser payment. Low income? Come on really? Try living on $10000-$12000 a year.

I owe the tax department about 2 grand for a supplement loan from 13 years ago. As this si comming through the tax department, I doubt I will ever see any money as they will just take it off my amount owed to them.

What's wrong with that? You have the debt and the ATO has the means to reclaim some of that debt. I don't see what the problem is.

Who said there was a problem with that? Not me, I expect it....
