Which is why it pays to shop around before you sign on the dotted line.

Pkris you should compare apples with apples. You should have found out Bunnings' installation price before you concluded that you were overcharged. Bunnings are not exactly cheap and they are probably more expensive than the people that did your job.

Pkris, obviously you are not in the building game and don't know what people charge for their services. The other guy charged you that amount, so that answers your question. Do you think that Bunnings would be cheaper? Only one way to find out, that is if you can find somebody at Bunnings to give you a quote.

Was he only supplying the door, or did it include door jambs, architraves and hinges? If he included all these, you did OK.

Is there variables? Does your front door require deadlocks (not commonly needed in passage doors) are they solid as opposed to those cheaper "indoor doors" do you have cheaper handles? is the painting or finishing for the outside vs inside doors different. We need to know as this may account for the difference

The solid door at Bunnings was 300.00 supply only and at doors plus 498 supply only The exact door
The doors in the bedrooms were fitted using the same hinges and I purchased the handles and fitted them my self and had them painted by another trades person The front door was fitted using the same hinges and they fitted the handle and lock that I had purchased seperately

Pkris, price variations in building industry are huge, in all trades. I will give you 2 examples. I am getting my plumbing done for $25,000, all supplied. One of the quotes was $79,000 for exactly the same thing. The other item is rendering. I got it done for $18,300 and they did a reasonable job. One quote was $39,000.

That is why I always get about 4 quotes, for some things even more. It does pay to shop around.
