Prices increase and ads increasing, program quality dropping

My wife and I connected to Foxtel, She works long hours and enjoys relaxing with some 'quality' tv and I was injured in a car crash and have been unable to work, so I wanted to watch some different tv while recovering.

Foxtel claim that they have advertising to keep the costs of subscription down, however, there are more and more ads now, most 30min shows have 3 ad breaks. Subscriptions per month have risen 3 times since we have been a member.

I recently wrote to Foxtel and also Real Insurance, to complain about the frequency of their annoying ads. Real have not bothered to reply. Foxtel replied with a generic cut and paste, saying that ads help to pay for new exciting programming.

Lets talk about the programming.

Repeats. Lots of repeats. Nearly all programs are repeated over and over, at different time slots. They say its so everyone had a chance to see the program. I say its because they don't have decent programming.

Quality programming? Where? I enjoy American Chopper, American Hot Rod, Scrapyard Challenge, Rides, Biker Build off, etc. All of these shows being aired are now around 5 years old. I've seen nearly every episode of all these shows several times. Take Top Gear, for instance. Excellent show, One of the best motoring shows ever. Season 1 just finished airing and now, we're onto Series 2. About 5 years behind.

Also shows like The Simpsons, I think there is around 30 series of The Simpsons, yet we still get fed repeat after repeat. Family Guy also.

Foxtel seems to think that quality programming is reality shows, Like Soccer Superstar, Top Model and Idol. That, to me, is crap programming. Not interested in that at all. Some days a American Idol gets a whole 12hrs air time on Fox 8. The season is over! Who cares!!

All in all, it is a total, utter waste of money. We won't pay for sport channels, as apart from the live events, All of the sport is repeats and Movies is also a waste of money. Who wants movies in different languages as part of the package?

Weekend programming is the absolute worst. Foxtel is a total waste of money.
