Agree 4 it is set thru tribunal and enacted through parliment - hence affects judges and the like. So pollies can play the good guys (if they feel that way iinclined)

That I was told was because their pay is set by a Tribunal so hands off from the MP's so to speak - but seeing as this also sets the pay for top public servants including those sitting on it - no wonder it goes up heaps and often eusa_wall.gif

And as was once pointed out to me ( By an opposition pollie)- Pollies can vote to stop their "inflation/ norm/ keeping in line" payrises. All that happens is when times are good the pays raise a hell of a lot more than normal to keep them on track. They never loose out they just have to sit tight and it all comes down the track.

Since then of course the MPs have had a $90 a week rise in their electoral allowances making it $32000 a year and if it is not all spent - becomes taxable income at end of year - but - they do not have to account for any or how it is spent - I am a cynic - yes but this is back door rises when our pensioners after waiting a year of prices rising weekly got $30 for they are single and nothing on the base pension if they are married or Gay couple either.

Also cant post the link to Budget Review for pensioners but you can find it - no rise in the pipeline for couples ever again seemingly unless some amendments done!

A country that can't look after it elderly citizens who have worked and paid their income taxes as the multi cult started later so none yet on Age Pension and these built the country and now are neglected.

Greed and profit still King. eusa_naughty.gif

Yes to original poster - the CMail here outlined Govt MP's getting an "allowance" of $25 a day for buying drinks.
Also considering MP's pay rises go up with the rise in inflation - I cant see them changing anything anytime soon. Trouble is we write to these "people" to bring in a fairer system & they dont - they just ignore us & keep the same rules thinking if they ignore you long enough you'll go away (or die off)
I think its a bit rich for an allowance of $25 a day for alocholic drinks - when at where i work they bring in an no alcohol policy - i wonder how many ministers are over the limit or under the influence when theyre in office or in the chambers debating each other for life altering decisions on legislation??

Pity I would have liked to see if this is true that they give all this bounty to energy companies and starve our pensioners.

You are not allowed to post links in your post and the original poster had one in the first post which the NGE moderator had not seen hence the following conversation. The link soon disappeared.

No extra money for our poor old pensioners but how many realise that our caring government gives around 9 billion dollars a year to energy companies in tax breaks and concessions.

These mega rich oil companies receive these benefits with no questions asked as to what and how they will use the money and no jumping through hoops as is the norm for public welfare recipients.

A decent government should take away these bribe payments made to those oil companies and give it to our pensioners.

Unfortunately it will never change whilst either of the two major parties hold government as they as corrupt and traitorous as each other.
