Check with your state training authority - giving the RTO (Registered Training Organisation) Number - they may have their ability to provide accredited training stripped if they do not provide the service they claim

Contacting the media is a good idea.

This seems like a private education provider.

Best to stick to TAFE - they have a wide variety of courses.

Or go to an accredited university.

Post subject: Thompson Education Direct

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I signed up for a course with Thompson Education in November last year. I am so frustrated with it due to the workbook being outdated (I was sent the 5th edition text book but the workbook only relates to the 4th edition...and they are totally different!), the readings book having clippings from years and years ago and when I call to enquire about anything they talk to me like I am an idiot when by the end of the call they realise I am right with what I am saying yet all they did was send me the old version of the text book! I paid over $1500 up front for a course that is out dated and they don't give a damn. I sent a compaint email about their service and the quality of the course a month ago and the same, no acknowledgement or answer to this email, I have just sent them another one asking why no one has contacted me. I wish that I had had a chance to start the course as soon as I got all the paperwork as I would have asked for all of my money back as it is a rip off. I think you should go to Today tonight or A current Affair to tell them, that will get their notice. I am also thinking of doing this if no one gets back to me from this second compaint letter. (the most frustrating thing is that today I got a letter from them saying I have not handed in an assignment in nearly 3 months, this is because of all the troubles I am having with them and they know that from my complaint email that they never actioned!!!). Makes me wonder how many people are having difficulties with them!

It seems you need to find a way to get their attention at an appropriately high level to at least discuss your circumstance in detail - which seems to be what you ask.

Check Thompson's web page->Higher Education link.

First, contact the NSW Department of Education and Training and do a cc to the General Manager. I would expect Thompson to be very responsive to complaints lodged through DET as it could affect Thompson applications for accreditation.

If you don't get any joy from that, you could try writing to the organisations listed regarding Thompson's non-responsiveness (from the perspective that their organisation's support reflects badly on them if Thompson does not do their job), also cc'ing Thompson's General Manager. Even if you are not in accounting, it could get their attention for you.

You might want to invest in registered delivery, return receipt, to make a paper trail.

Good luck.

HI,
I wondered if somebody could give me advice on where else I can turn with the following problem.
I began a correspondence course with Thomson Education Direct in 2004. Progress in this course was slow at homes on my part due to me being ill and losing my mother to cancer earlier this year. I felt really good to have finally completed my course, more so due to the trials which I had overcome. I paid for the course in full at the onset.
On three seperate occasions, Thomson have "lost" my assignments. I have resubmitted them and they all appear on my account as having been recived and marked. There are two assignments, which are recorded as having been received on the 21/9/07 and are yet to be marked. I cannot re-submit the assignments, the course has now expired. I have made several calls and sent many e-mails about this issue, but I receive no reply. I have contacted NSW Office of Fair Trading and they have not replied. I do not know what else to do. When I call Thomson's customer helpline, I am assured that someone will call within the next day- it never happens. eusa_wall.gif My e-mails are not even acknowledged. All I want is the statement I worked so hard for.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Jumarma
P.S. I have contemplated going to the head office and causing a scene until this issue is resolved, do you think this would be effective??
