A few weeks ago hubby decided he should change the oil in both the 75 series and 100 series Landcruisers. Off I go to our local Autopro to get oil filters and oil. Ryco Z334 oil filter - $45 each, 10 litre Valvoline diesel oil $72. Had a look another auto parts shop when we were in Perth the other day - the same oil filter was $30, and the oil was $60. I know there are freight costs involved, but this is another case of charging what they like because they can get away with it.

You're 100% right, and now that you know where to buy oil and filter cheaper, go and get it there next time, however you might find that in the meantime it got cheaper in autopro, you can't win.

Nothing in our Autopro gets cheaper. Half the time they don't even have what you want. Example: I go there to buy injector cleaner. They say they haven't got any because one of the contractors came in and bought the last two boxes of it. Well hell, just sell the whole lot to the contractor and stuff anyone else. What they should do is tell the contractor they can have x number of bottles, and they should order their own. They charge what they do because there is no other place to buy parts - the nearest opposition is 450km up the road.

Well yepp, you probably live somewhere that, if what you want to buy is too expensive in one shop, you can go to another shop. We don't have that luxury. Thank goodness we will only be here for another couple of years.

Hmmm. Castrol GTX diesel oil, 5 litre container $50. Price in Perth $33. Price of 20 litre drum at the local roadhouse $125.
