Organisation name: GMAC
Issue type: Complaint

Has anyone had any issues with car repossession with GMAC.
I was behind in my payments but had come to an arrangement to pay increased weekly amounts which I did but unknown to me they had obtained a Court Order to repossess my car in February 2009. In April 2009 I had a visit from a Repo Guy who wanted to take my car. I told him where to go. When I contacted GMAC they told me all deals off and I had to repay the arrears in full - which I did - to prevent the car being repossessed. During this conversation the GMAC rep asked was the car with me at work and I said no I didn't drive it that day. He then accussed me of HIDING the vehicle. I denied this and said it was because I had borrowed a work ute to pick up horse supplies. The following week the repo guy turned up at my work with 3 police officers who were sent to restrain me. On calling GMAC i was informed that the car was repossessed because I had hidden it. I denied this again and was then informed that the 3 police officers were there because I had previously assaulted a repo guy - this is a lie again from GMAC as I have never laid a finger on the guy they sent to my work to 'scare me' (they were the repo guys words not mine). They took my car then send a Notice stating that the car was repossessed due to not being insured. It was comprehensively insured of which I had proof. I have taken the matter to court but am looking for other people who might have had trouble with GMAC with their dodgy dealings and lies. Please help if you have

melmadge and sTANDuP27 .. guess what .. I have had the same experience too ..! GMAC Finance is definetely the worst finance company in Australia for all the same reasons you have pointed out. They do not operate under their own loan contract terms and conditions and just do whatever and say whatever they want ..! Their mercantile agents are complete idiots operating outside of the finance industry rules and are hiding behind GMAC's apparent customer service break-down. From all accounts GMAC Finance is virtually broke and they owe the USA Govt BILLIONS and have closed down their operations here in Australia and are trying to get their capital back in by any means possible .. this means that any possible chance they have of picking up their vehicles (repo) and putting them up for sale quickly helps them with their operating capital. Just one ruthless pack of bastards in survival mode. Get away from them fast and trade your vehicles in if you can get a payout off them! Goodluck.
