Post subject: Rip Off to fix something when was found nothing wrong...

IN February, our Garage door was not closing properly and I called Delta Warringah to come out as they had installed it. I was told a service call would be charged and I said O.K. Their installer spent 15 minutes at our control box and said that we needed a new circuit board and he doesn't have the part on him. He made my wife sign some piece of paper FIRST to debit our credit card $150(of which to this day we have no copy) and THEN told her that it would cost a further $295. We have no record of the wording to debit our card. She phoned me to tell me the price and I went off my head. I called Delta and told them that a whole garage motor with all accessories costs only $550 and they wanted to charge me nearly $450! This same company also told me when I had the garage installed that it would need to be serviced every year.(thats a load of crap because Gliderol (the manufacturer)said this is not necessary). I called them to ask why such a high price and also questioned a $150 callout fee and they simply said "you didnt ask the price when you booked". I then told them they may as well send me a a new motor and ill keep it in stock and use the parts I may need and ill be way in front and they said "yes thats about right" in regards to the way I questioned a complete unit at $550 wasn't far off them charging $450 for a simple circuit board only? I told them to forget about ever setting foot on my premises again. I called Gliderol to complain, and in short they sent a contractor out the next day. He came, spent barely 3 minutes and used no parts, and charged a call out fee of only $110. He commented that obviously the installer that came out didnt diagnose properly or was not skilled enough to know what to do properly. He also said to us that a COMPLETE control box only costs $275 and that a circuit board only costs $130 (not $295 as Delta quoted), so talk about a most blatant rip off! He also informed us a very simple step to take so that a service call would not be required in the future. I sent Delta-Warringah an email to demand my money back and the owner rang me the next day and ABUSED me over the phone, and said "you'll get your refund" and NEVER to contact, email or call his company ever again! and mentioned how I dont have a clue to running a business, treating me like an idiot.(I have run a VERY successful business for the last 26 years). How rude to a paying customer! This was a month ago now, and no refund. What a liar and a cheat as was proved by the installer from Gliderol. How dare Delta get away with this, in blatant overcharging and abuse to a paying customer. All Delta could do was whinge about the "crap" service Gliderol give, but this was not the case but simply an excuse because they are supporting another manufacturer now and accordingly don't use Gliderol products and it shows because they certainly don't know how to fix them properly.
