Post subject: Road Rage Damage to Car
Organisation name: Queensland Police
Issue type: Complaint

In July 09 I was 'involved' in a road rage incident. In fact two men who were road raging ended up on my car, doing $1000 damage. A constable turned up and told me to make a statement. I was at the Fortitude Valley police station within 10 minutes to do this. To this day I have been calling the two police officers that helped me out on the night and I still have the damage to my car. I even went to a community lawyer, who can't help me without the other party's names and I can't get that without spending money and going through Freedom of Information. I wouldn't be complaining except that the road rage had nothing even remotely to do with me, yet I am stuck with a damaged car that I want to sell. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do? Happy to answer any questions and/or give more details if you need it.

Write a letter to the Commissioner of Police stating you wish to take civil action against the two men to have the damage to your car fixed and you need their details.
Perhaps that may work.
Or take it to the extreme and write to the Minister of Police, it then becomes a ministerial file which must be replied to in writing to the Minister, that sometimes gets the ball rolling.

Did the police charge the men (either or both) with some offence(s)?, if they were charged by the police with an offence the easiest way they could have helped you would have been to simply add onto the brief of evidence that you sought restitution for the damage caused to your vehicle and the Magistrate could have simply made an order that they pay it...

it seems to me that the only way to get justice these days, is an eye for an eye, the law looks after the crims
