Post subject: Customer?

So many people these days never say thank you if you let them in heavy traffic or hold a door open for them--seems to expected--where have the manners gone?

Manners seem to have been forgotten a lot these days--even if you do have a complaint there is a right and a wrong way of making it. I also believe in giving credit where credit is due.

Used car sales was not as fun as I expected it to be, but something I am glad I had the opportunity to do.

I have seen absoluteDann and his clones. They usually work in menswear or used cars, sometimes appliances and restaurants. Come to think of it, these guys are everywhere. Shop online, It's the only way to avoid most of them.

Actually, Kadee, colleagues have told me I can fake it better than anyone they've ever met. When a manager passed on a customer compliment letter regarding me this week, he seemed surprised when I discarded it without reading it. The fact it, these compliments don't put food on the table.

absolutedan, you are also a customer, somewhere, that means, by your own definition, stupid. But then, your mail is somewhat stupid as well

absoluteDann are you serious? You don't like to be complimented? With an attitude like that I somehow doubt it's a regular occurance.

A website devoted to stupid customers? They must have a large web quota. I have never met a customer who is not stupid. I have worked in customer service for many years, and maintain that customers are the worst part of my job. I particulary dislike people who feel the need to express their gratitude too much. They should say 'thank you,' I respond 'You're welcome,' and the transaction has completed. People calling to compliment me on my performance does little more than waste everybody's time.

If a salesman stood beside me for three hours I would feel pressured and annoyed and would likely not want to buy anything. A good salesman gives you the info you need, offers you time to think/discuss and then excuses himself to serve others with an invite to approach if any more help required. The saleperson can then return/make eye contact between other customers to check on prevaricator.

Sales, esp retail, requires customer knowledge i.e. the procrastinator, the analytical, the splashy spender etc etc and to then have the skill to tailor your pitch accordingly.

Making a considered decision does not a bad customer make.

jakblak said "if u are going to take 3 hours to make up your mind while other customers are waiting and getting impatient u are not a good customer"

Actually, I am going to take my time if this is a large purchase. The store clerk can go serve someone else and when I have made my decision, I will let them know.

A good customer always takes their time and buys when ready, not when the store employee thinks you are ready.

jakblak say "if u are going to take 3 hours to make up your mind while other customers are waiting and getting impatient u are not a good customer" Well I can take as much time as needed to make up my mind, and no one will make me part with my money quick just because customers are waiting, get more staff. I agree with the rest of what you say.
